Marrisa Shen: A timeline of her disappearance

Here is what we know so far about the information police have gathered on Marrisa Shen's movements the day she went missing.

Police are asking anyone with more information about Shen's whereabouts on July 18 to contact them

On July 18, 13-year-old Marrisa Shen went missing from her home near Central Park in Burnaby, B.C.

Her body was found in the park seven hours after her last known location. Now, police are calling her homicide a "random attack."

They have yet to identify a suspect. 

Here is what we know so far about the information police have gathered on Marrisa Shen's movements that day.

1:00 p.m.

Marrisa Shen is last seen at her home near the park.

5:00 p.m.

Shen sends a text from her phone.

Police originally reported this as a phone call but later clarified it was a text. Investigators haven't given any details about who she was in contact with or what she texted.

6:02 p.m.

Shen is seen on surveillance video leaving her apartment building near the park. 

(Police have released another surveillance video from about two hours earlier that shows her going into the building.)

Investigators say the video shows Shen wasn't in distress at this point. It just confirms her last known location.

They believe these are the same clothes she was wearing when she was found. 

6:09 p.m.

In video released six months after her death, Marrisa is seen entering the Tim Hortons at 6200 Mackay Ave. in Burnaby. She leaves an hour-and-a-half later.

11:30 p.m.

Shen's family reports her missing to police. 

1:10 a.m.

Shen's body is found in a southeast corner of Central Park, seven hours after she was last seen.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen Shen on July 18 between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. to contact them.
