Vancouver music teacher Mark Reid nominated for Varkey award

Mark Reid, the music director at Vancouver Technical Secondary School, has been nominated for a Varkey Foundation international teaching award worth $1 million.

The foundation, which promotes education globally, nominates educators from around the world for the prize annually. This year, Reid has made the final 50 nominees.

The winner will be announced in Dubai on March 16. Meanwhile, Shane Foxman reports from the school where Reid works his magic.
