Man — who appeared to wear headphones — dies after train strike in Langley

Police were called to a rail crossing near Glover Road and Fraser Highway around 8:30 p.m., after reports a man wandering on the tracks had been hit by a Canadian Pacific train.

RCMP say a man who appears to have been wearing headphones was killed after he was struck by a train in Langley Tuesday night.

Police say the man, who may have been homeless, likely didn't hear the train approaching.

Police were called to a rail crossing near Glover Road and Fraser Highway around 8:30 p.m., after reports a man wandering on the tracks had been hit by a Canadian Pacific train.

"The male was taken to RCH and it has recently been reported to us that he has ... died of his injuries," said Sgt Damian Volk with Langley RCMP.

Police say the man appears to have been in his 40s.

Volk said the investigation is ongoing as to why the man was on the tracks.

Police are asking for any witnesses to contact them.
