Man found dead on Burnaby street was homicide victim

A man found dead on a street in Burnaby, B.C., early Thursday morning was the victim of a homicide, investigators have confirmed.

A man found dead on a street in Burnaby, B.C., early Thursday morning was the victim of a homicide, investigators have confirmed.

A police officer on routine patrol found the man's body lying in a pool of blood in the middle of Moscrop Street at Smith Avenue just before 3 a.m. PT Thursday.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case, but police have yet to say how the man died.

Investigators have been going door to door in the neighbourhood on Thursday morning and a police dog has been helping search for evidence.

"We are hoping to speak with anyone who was out and about in the area of Moscrop in the hours leading up to the discovery of this man." said IHIT media relations officer Sgt. Stephanie Ashton.
