Man dies after police standoff at Starlight Casino

A man shot during a police stand-off outside the Starlight Casino in New Westminster earlier this month died in hospital on Sunday evening, B.C.'s Independent Investigation's Office has confirmed.

The standoff shutdown the casino and several major roads and a bridge in the area while police attempted to negotiate with the man. After several hours the standoff ended with the man being shot. 

The IIO has been handling the investigation and the man's name and details of how he was shot have not been released.
