The Little Bobtail Lake fire, located about 70 kilometres southwest of Prince George, is now 100 per cent contained.

The province's Wildfire Management Branch says the cooler, wet weather has helped with firefighting efforts.

The fire, which is the largest in B.C. so far this year, burned across 25 square kilometres of forest since it started around May 9, triggering evacuation orders affecting a large number of recreation properties in the area.

An evacuation order remains in effect for areas of the Bulkey Nechako Regional District while crews continue to remove trees that were damaged by the fire, and sprinkler units set up around buildings.

About 220 fire personnel are still on scene taking care of mop-up and patrol, as well as putting out the remainder of the flames.

Officials warn the deep burning fire has weakened the root systems of many trees, and are asking the public to avoid the area while fire crews make the area safer.
