A 54-year-old man has been charged in connection to the suspicious death of a 42-year-old man in the British Properties neighbourhood of West Vancouver.

A 54-year-old man has been charged in connection to the suspicious death of a 42-year-old man in the British Properties neighbourhood of West Vancouver.

Li Zhao, of West Vancouver, has been charged with interference with a dead body.

Police first received reports of a violent confrontation at a home on the 900 block of King Georges Way late on Saturday night.

Officers secured the home and arrested the suspect on Sunday morning. Police won't say if the body was found in the home or if the victim was someone involved in the confrontation.

"The investigation is at a very early stage. A number of charges are being considered," said West Vancouver Const. Jeff Palmer. "At this stage we anticipate forensic investigators will be at the scene perhaps for another day or longer."

No other details, including the name of the suspect or victim, have been released.

The investigation is being conducted in association with the Vancouver Police Department. West Vancouver Police normally conduct homicide investigations with the VPD. In return, West Vancouver Police assign a detective on a full- time secondment to VPD Homicide.
