Police say one person was killed and another injured in a shooting in Langley, B.C., on Saturday evening.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said that it was notified of gunshots in the area of 196 Street and 84 Avenue around 6:30 p.m. PT.

They say officers found two men who had been shot, one of whom succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The other man is currently being treated for his injuries, though police did not specify how seriously he had been injured.

IHIT said it believes the shooting is related to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.

In an update on Sunday, investigators say the victim has been identified, but their name is being withheld until family members are notified. Authorities added that the victim was known to police, and early information suggests the shooting was targeted.

"This investigation is in its early stages," Staff Sgt. David Lee of IHIT said in a statement. "Homicide investigators are liaising with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. to determine how the victims are associated to each other and how this relates to the ongoing gang conflict."

Officials are asking anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the area between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. PT on Saturday to contact investigators at 1-877-551-4448.
