Kelowna crash claims life of 18-year-old
Vehicle and semi-trailer collision happened early Friday morning near UBC Okanagan campus
An early-morning collision between a car and commercial semi-trailer Friday has left an 18-year-old Kelowna resident dead.
The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. PT on Highway 97 near the University of British Columbia Okanagan overpass.
"Investigators are on scene including a collision analyst and are working to determine what events led up to the crash," said Cpl. Meghan Foster.
RCMP are working to notify next of kin.
UBCO posted a notice about the accident, asking faculty and administrators to accommodate the needs of those who could not access the campus.
Highway 97 northbound between Edwards Road and the overpass was closed Friday morning but has since re-opened.
