Kelowna Hells Angel turns himself in

A full-patch member of the Kelowna Hells Angels chapter who was wanted for murder has turned himself into police.

Robert Leonard Thomas is one of seven men charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of Dain Phillips, 51, on June 12.

RCMP Supt. Pat Fogarty said Thomas was the last of seven suspects to be apprehended. The other six suspects are scheduled to appear in court on July 21

"They've all been charged, but we were missing Mr. Thomas, who had departed the area, and there had been some negotiations going on for him to turn himself in and my latest information is that he did that at 3 o'clock this morning," said Fogarty.

Phillips's savage murder was sparked by a feud between his sons and two brothers, who were associated with Hells Angels member Norman Robert Cocks.

Cocks, 31, is charged with second-degree murder, along with his father Robert Charles Cocks, Robert Leonard Thomas, Daniel Joseph McRae, Matthew Thomas McRae, Anson Lloyd Schell and Thomas Allen Vaughan.

Police say Thomas, 46, is also a member of the Hells Angels in Kelowna, and that 52-year-old Robert Charles Cocks is president of the Throttle Lockers, a Hells Angels support club.
