B.C.'s NDP leader shows the mementoes in his office and their political significance

B.C. NDP leader John Horgan sat down with CBC British Columbia legislative reporter Richard Zussman to offer a behind-the-scenes look at his office and its mementoes.

One of his most prized possessions: a "punching puppet" of former B.C. premier Mike Harcourt.

"This is still in the package. I could probably get a buck-and-a-half on EBay for this one," he said, laughing.

Another memento is a hard hat he received when he was the house leader. But Horgan said, unlike B.C. Liberal Leader Christy Clark, the bulk of his experience wearing hard hats comes from working in saw and pulp mills.

"I have worked as a living and I know the challenges of working people," said Horgan.

"Why I joined the NDP is, it was the party of working people, and I maintain that the NDP in 2015 is just as vital to the working class and working people as the NDP of the past." said Horgan.

To get a closer look at Horgan's office and how the objects within it reflect his political policies, watch the video above.
