New DNA evidence found in case of woman choked and threatened with death
A woman who was sexually assaulted, choked and threatened with death by a stranger after leaving a party in Abbotsford, B.C. almost 16 years ago may finally see her alleged attacker held to justice.
Following new DNA evidence uncovered by Abbotsford police, 48-year-old James Allen Redden has been charged with sexual assault, unlawful confinement, and uttering threats against a woman on August 7, 1999, in the 37200 block of Ward Road.
The stalled investigation was relaunched after previously seized clothing was sent for DNA testing by the APD's Major Crime Unit in December 2013.
A DNA profile was discovered early last year and Redden was charged on December 17.
