"How to Kill Your Teacher" tips posted by grade school boys
Nanaimo Ladysmith school district investigates if students are from there
Attempts are underway to identify a pair of young boys who acted in a video that demonstrates ways to kill your teacher.
The boys, who might be from Nanaimo, B.C., appear to be in a bedroom, acting out several methods to kill a teacher they refer to as "Ms D".
The scenarios involve demonstrations with various tools including, what look like, toy guns and the video was posted to YouTube.
But when the video was highlighted on a Facebook page belonging to an American radio station, the original posting quickly disappeared.
This video is deeply disturbing on many levels.- Jim Iker, BCTF president
Another video which appears to feature the same two boys seems to place them in Nanaimo, B.C.
Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools' director of communications Dale Burgos says the district is taking the content in the "teacher killing" video very seriously.
"The district has started an investigation to find out whether the subjects in the video are students of Nanaimo Ladysmith public schools," said Burgos in an email.
The BC Teachers' Federation has notified Vancouver police about the video.
“This video is deeply disturbing on many levels. The violent words and actions expressed by the young boys are in sharp contrast to the safe learning environment we all want for students and teachers in our schools," said president Jim Iker in a written statement.
Vancouver Police spokesperson Const. Brian Montague says in order for a threat to be real, it has to be direct and specific and the target must believe the person is capable of carrying it out.
Child psychologist Nicole Aube says the video should be taken seriously.
"If I would be the parent I'd be concerned about what's going on in school. Why are they so angry at that teacher? How can they feel so misunderstood," said Aube.
