Woman ticketed for leaving 19 dogs and puppies in hot vehicle in Kamloops
Police said the Saskatchewan woman had been ticketed in a similar incident in Alberta
A Saskatchewan woman has been ticketed for leaving 19 dogs in a hot vehicle in Kamloops, B.C..
Police were called to a hotel parking lot on Tuesday night after a concerned person noticed numerous dogs in a van.
Officers found five adult Labrador retrievers and 14 puppies.
"There had been no safety measures to protect the dogs while they were being transported, and the pets didn't appear to be in very good health," said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.
"The police officer issued a violation ticket for transporting living animals without protection under the Motor Vehicle Act."
Shelkie said the woman was ticketed in a similar incident in Alberta.
Bylaw officers have seized the dogs. The SPCA will examine their health and determine if the animals should be returned to the woman.
