Homicide investigators seek suspect in Franz Prokop shooting
Suspect is an Indo-Canadian male in his mid-50s, police say
Homicide investigators are asking the public to help identify the suspect behind the shooting of a former Maple Ridge city councillor.
Franz Prokop, who is now a realtor, was found suffering from a gunshot wound on Aug. 31 near one of his property listings near Lougheed Highway and 240th Street in Maple Ridge.
Prokop survived, and police are now calling the incident an attempted homicide.
Sgt. Jennifer Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the suspect is an older man who walks with a limp.
"The suspect is described as an Indo-Canadian male in his mid-50s, who spoke with an accent," she said. "He's also described as having a full beard, round face and wearing a turban."
Investigators believe people in the area at the time may have seen Prokop's BMW car and the suspect's large, dark pickup truck.
They are asking anyone with information to come forward.
