The 53-year-old Vancouver woman run over by a BMW SUV in a hit-and-run last week has died from her injuries — and Vancouver police are making a second plea for the person driving the car to come forward.

The woman was struck just before 1:30 a.m. PT on Jan. 18, while crossing East 41st Avenue at Commercial Street with her husband.

The couple were in a marked crosswalk and crossing with the pedestrian light when the eastbound BMW hit them at a high speed after running the red light. The vehicle continued east toward Victoria Drive.

The woman was taken to hospital and died the next day. Her husband was not injured.

Investigators say the car is a 2000-2006 BMW X5 with obvious front-end damage and a missing grille.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 604-717-3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
