Vehicles are once again moving north and south along Highway 99, after a collision at Cristal Falls Road, north of Lions Bay Avenue early Sunday evening, which sent three people to hospital and closed the roadway two separate times.

RCMP say a northbound vehicle went over the median where there is not a concrete divider and collided with a southbound vehicle.

A collision reconstruction team is working to determine more details about what caused the crash.

The BC Ambulance Service says one of the victims was in critical condition, while two others were listed as serious. The fourth patient was described by paramedics as in semi-serious condition.

The accident snarled traffic heading north and southbound, but officials were eventually able to open a northbound lane, before traffic was moving with congestion in alternating single lanes, in both directions.

Later on however, officials re-closed the roadway in both directions a second time so that ambulances to get to the scene according to Drive BC.

By 10:00 p.m. PT Sunday Highway 99 at the accident site was completely open, but officials warned commuters to expect delays due to congestion.
