Not known when the road in B.C.'s northern Interior will reopen
Highway 16 in B.C. is closed Tuesday morning in both directions east of Burns Lake after a semi-trailer caught fire late Monday.
Photos from the Burns Lake Fire Department show part of the truck's cab engulfed in flames, but firefighters said the driver escaped unharmed.
DriveBC initially said the estimated time of reopening was noon PT, but later said it's not known when the road will open. There is no detour available.
Highway 16 runs west-east from B.C.'s Graham Island, off the coast of Prince Rupert, all the way to near Portage la Prairie, Man.
