Multi-vehicle crash in East Vancouver sends 1 to hospital

The four-vehicle accident happened at the intersection of Grandview Highway and Rupert Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

A four-vehicle crash in East Vancouver sent one person to hospital late Friday evening.

A witness driving by the intersection of Grandview Highway and Rupert Street said she saw a car travelling southbound run a red light around 11:30 p.m.

The witness said the driver may not have seen the light change, due to foul weather at the time.

The southbound car collided with another vehicle travelling northbound, which then hit two other vehicles stopped at the intersection.

Five people escaped the crash unharmed, but the man in the southbound car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
