Fort St. John RCMP have arrested three men and are searching for more suspects after a man was kidnapped and severely beaten with weapons.

Police say a drug debt owed to a violent gang of cocaine traffickers resulted in the incident.

RCMP say the man was swarmed by the assailants outside a pub, where he was beaten and forced into a vehicle, then taken to an undisclosed location.

There, the three suspects allegedly used weapons to further assault the victim, who suffered significant injuries.

RCMP would not comment on the types of weapons used in the attack but say it was similar to others inflicted by the Independent Soldiers gang.

Police were alerted to the incident and found the victim, who was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and later released.
