Another foggy morning forecast for Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island
Environment Canada warns of potentially hazardous travelling due to low visibility
An advisory by Environment and Climate Change Canada is warning of heavy fog Tuesday night into Wednesday morning in parts of southwestern B.C.
The advisory, which follows two earlier advisories, warns that travelling may be hazardous, with low visibility and slippery surfaces possibly forming in areas with temperatures below zero.
Tuesday's advisory covers Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria, eastern Vancouver Island, the Southern Gulf Islands and the Sunshine Coast.
Conditions are expected to improve near midday in the region, according to the agency.
"If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance," reads the advisory.
Police say that winter conditions are settling in over southwest B.C., and have advised drivers to be aware of their surroundings after five people were killed in separate traffic accidents on the South Coast over the weekend.
Investigators have not yet said whether the heavy fog that was in place on Sunday and Monday morning had a role to play in any of the accidents.
