Fire on Number 5 Road damages townhouse complex in Richmond, B.C.
'I can see right through the building. I can see the tops of the closets,' says neighbour
A fire has damaged a townhouse complex at 9111 on Number 5 Road, in Richmond, B.C. on Monday morning.
It started at about 11 a.m. PT and does not appear to be suspicious, according to Richmond RCMP.
The fire broke out while construction crews were renovating the building at Number 5 Road.
Neighbours described a lot of blue smoke as firefighters worked to contain the fire. The roofs of some of the buildings have collapsed.
"The section of the roof is completely burnt out, like the whole roof is gone in one section," said Maureen McNamar who lives nearby.
"I can see right through the building. I can see the tops of the closets."
There are no reports of any injuries, but paramedics were on scene to rehydrate firefighters. No one was transported to hospital.
