An in-depth look at the HST referendum results, including the ridings with the narrowest margins and those with the strongest results for and against the tax.

The 5 ridings most in favour of scrapping the HST:

  • Surrey–Green Timbers, 75.51 per cent voted to scrap the HST.
  • Vancouver–Kingsway, 72.45 voted to scrap the HST.
  • Surrey–Newton, 72.22 per cent voted to scrap the HST.
  • Vancouver–Kensington, 69.48 per cent voted to scrap the HST.
  • Surrey–Whalley, 68.88 per cent voted to scrap the HST.

The 5 ridings most in favour of keeping the HST:

  • West Vancouver–Capilano, 64.52 per cent voted to keep the HST.
  • Vancouver–Quilchena, 62.4 per cent voted to keep the HST.
  • Vancouver–Sea to Sky, 60.78 per cent voted to keep the HST.
  • North Vancouver–Seymour, per cent 60.59 voted to keep the HST.
  • Vancouver-Point Grey, 58.11 per cent voted to keep the HST.

The 5 ridings with the narrowest margins:

  • Peace River North, which voted to scrap the tax by four votes.
  • Shuswap, which  voted to keep the tax by 72 votes.
  • Penticton, which voted to scrap the tax by 222 votes.
  • Chilliwack–Hope, which voted to keep the tax by 227 votes.
  • Port Moody–Coquitlam, which voted to scrap the tax by 324 votes.

The ridings of 5 high-profile cabinet ministers:

  • Vancouver–Point Grey, Premier Christy Clark's riding: 58.11 per cent in favour of keeping the HST.
  • Fort Langley–Aldergrove, Energy Minister Rich Coleman's riding: 54.16 per cent in favour of keeping the HST.
  • Surrey–Cloverdale, Finance Minister Kevin Falcon's riding: 52.45 per cent in favour of keeping the HST.
  • Abbotsford West, Health Minister Michael de Jong's riding: 51.46 per cent in favour of keeping the HST.
  • Shuswap, Education Minister George Abbott's riding: 50.16 per cent in favour of keeping the HST.

The ridings of 5 high-profile NDP MLAs:

  • Vancouver–Kingsway, party leader Adrian Dix's riding: 72.45 per cent against the HST.
  • Juan de Fuca, John Horgan's riding: 62.5 per cent against the HST.
  • New Westminster, Dawn Black's riding: 57.33 per cent against the HST.
  • Victoria–Beacon Hill, Carole James's riding: 55.76 per cent against the HST.
