An Oakridge collision kills a Vancouver man.

A Vancouver man has died after a two-car crash in the Oakridge area Saturday morning, and police suspect "excessive speed" is a factor in the death.

The unidentified 68-year-old man died after being transported to hospital, police said.

The collision happened around 9 a.m. PT when the senior, driving a red Suzuki, was making a left turn onto 41st St from Oak St

Police say his car was hit by a grey Audi heading north on Oak St., that may have been going too fast.

Police say excessive speed may have caused the impact that led to the death of the driver of the red Suzuki, shown crushed in this image. (Jared Thomas/CBC)

The 34-year-old driver of the Audi from Richmond was taken to hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

"Having to tell someone their husband, wife, father, mother, brother, sister, son or daughter has been killed in a crash is a horrific job police are doing far too often," said Vancouver Police Const. Brian Montague. "I can't imagine what it is like for the person who has to receive that knock at the door from our officers."
