Fake Craigslist ads prompt police warning in Delta

Some homeowners in Delta, B.C., have been receiving odd visits from strangers and police say a series of suspicious online posts could be to blame.

Delta Police say they're investigating fake postings on the classified advertising website Craigslist.

The posts have offered intimate encounters, invited people to attend a house party or advertised free items.

Police say the person who reads the posting goes to the address provided and finds a surprised homeowner who knows nothing about the advertisement.

Residents have been advised to keep their doors locked and call police to report any suspicious activity in the neighbourhood.

Police say they are investigating to determine who is posting the fake ads.
