1 dead, 2 in custody after shooting at Surrey drive-thru
Police say shooting likely targeted
Two men are in custody following a deadly shooting at a Surrey, B.C., drive-thru Friday morning, RCMP say.
Police responded to a report of shots fired at the drive-thru of a financial institution in the 3000 block of 152 Street around 9:20 a.m. PT.
Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite attempts by first responders to revive him, he died of his injuries, a police statement said.
On Friday night, Sgt. Frank Jang with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team identified the victim as Suminder Grewal, 43.
2 suspects in custody
RCMP said two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and then on foot before they were apprehended.
Jang said the two suspects remain in custody.
"Mr. Grewal was a well-established member of an organized crime group and we believe that his murder was targeted," he said.
Police have spoken to witnesses at the scene, Jang said, but he is urging anyone who was in the area this morning to contact police.
Police are asking anyone with further information to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or solvecrime.ca.
