A 41-year-old Vancouver cyclist has died after being hit by a car on East Keith Road in North Vancouver.

The collision happened around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

North Vancouver RCMP Staff Sgt. Dan Guilfoyle said the car and male cyclist were travelling in opposite directions on Keith Road and collided when the car made a left hand turn onto Shavington Street.

The cyclist died at the scene.

"We will continue to gather statements from any witnesses," said Guilfoyle.

"We're going to inspect the vehicle and conduct a further investigation from the photos and measurements that were taken at the scene."

Speed and alcohol are not being considered as a factor. Guilfoyle says the male driver is cooperating with the investigation.
