Highway 1 has re-opened in both directions Tuesday night after one person was killed in a head-on collision west of Kamloops, B.C.

Police say the collision occurred near the Cherry Creek gas station just after 1:40 p.m. PT and involved two pickup trucks.

Investigators initially said earlier in the afternoon that there were five injured people but later updated that information to state that one of them, the driver of one of the trucks, had died at the scene.

The other truck had three passengers in addition to the driver.

The release said several police agencies and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating.
