The City of Coquitlam is closed Coquitlam River Park after a series of cougar sightings in the area.

Officials say the cougar has lost its fear of people and may exhibit aggressive behaviour.

People are being asked to stay out of the park and exercise caution in all areas adjacent to the Coquitlam River, which runs through the park.

Conservation officers are attempting to track the animal so it can be captured and relocated.
