A water main break that eroded the asphalt and led to the formation of a gaping sinkhole is being repaired this morning, constricting traffic near Johnson Street and Glen Drive in Coquitlam B.C.

Water poured into a parking garage at about 8:30 p.m. PT under one building as the hole turned into a small lake, forcing crews to work overnight Tuesday to repair the damaged street and pump out water.

It's unclear what caused the burst main. City crews worked to clean it up well into the morning, warning commuters the road was down to one lane.

Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart came by to survey the scene as the flood was cleaned up.
