The 28-year-old man who was killed in a Newton house party shooting the morning of Christmas Eve has been identified as Surrey resident Bradley McPherson.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is continuing its investigation into what led up to the man's death and is still looking to speak with people that attended the party in the 13100 block of 67A Avenue in Surrey.

Police said an autopsy would be performed to confirm the exact cause of his death.

Officials delayed identifying the victim until next of kin could be reached.

On Monday, McPherson's mother, Susan, shared his photo with police and made a statement through the IHIT media spokesperson.

"My family and I would like to address the community and ask anyone who has any information into who is responsible for this to come forward," she said.

"Bradley was a fun-loving man who loved his family and he was in no way involved in illegal activity.

"This was a senseless act which has taken a son away from his mother forever."

McPherson was the first of three people shot in separate incidents in Surrey over the Christmas weekend.

A woman was reportedly injured in a shooting in her apartment Christmas morning in Whalley, and a 27-year-old man was killed while clerking in a convenience store near North Delta Sunday afternoon.
