School buses not running in Cariboo due to snowy weather; schools remain open
School buses in the area of Williams Lake and 100 Mile House sidelined due to road conditions
School buses in the in Cariboo-Chilcotin aren't running today because of blowing snow and poor road conditions.
"The snow has come a few days ago and it basically hasn't stopped, " said School District 27 superintendent Mark Wintjes.
"We're just making sure that we keep the kids safe and our staff as well."
The temporary shutdown affects buses servicing the areas of Williams Lake and 100 Mile House including Horsefly Lake and Big Lake.
Wintjes says the district looks at the weather and road conditions every morning and decides whether it's safe to run the buses.
"We try to make that decision based on what we are hearing from highways and looking at reports from our drivers."
Schools in the region are still open.
