A man and woman are in hospital in serious condition after a shooting Thursday in the 6700 block of Broadway Avenue in Burnaby.

RCMP were called to that location just after 6 p.m., where they found two victims — a 52-year-old man and 39 year-old-woman — suffering from gunshot wounds outside a home.

Burnaby RCMP Cpl Daniela Panesar says, after a brief investigation, police were able to find and arrest a suspect in the 4400-block of Albert Street — roughly five kilometres away from the crime scene.

"The male suspect is a 58-year-old Burnaby resident and is currently in custody," she said at a news conference held outside the Burnaby RCMP detatchment.
