Impairment suspected in Burnaby-Coquitlam border collision that sent 2 to hospital: police
Pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries after they were hit by a pickup truck Tuesday, police say
Burnaby RCMP say they believe impairment was a factor in a collision that sent two pedestrians to hospital Tuesday.
Police say they responded to a report of a crash involving a pickup truck and pedestrians at North Road and Lougheed Highway, on the Burnaby-Coquitlam border, at about 5:20 p.m.
The pedestrians, both women, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to RCMP. The truck also reportedly hit a lamp post on the sidewalk.
RCMP say the driver remained on scene, and that while the cause of the collision remains under investigation, impairment is suspected.
Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours.
B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed in a statement to CBC News that paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to two patients on scene, who were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
