Bowron Lakes and Berg Lake already taking summer reservations
Trails 'should be on everyone's bucket list,' says Discover Camping's Nathalie Dechaine
Two of B.C.'s most popular destinations are already taking reservations for the summer.
Reservations for the Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit and the Berg Lake Trail opened on Jan. 2, 2015.
Nathalie Dechaine, who oversees the Discover Camping system in B.C. said nearly 30 people signed up on the first day.
"There are quite a few people looking to make their summer plans for 2015," she told Daybreak Kamloops' Shelley Joyce.
Dechaine said both trails bring travellers into some of B.C.'s most spectacular wilderness, but are accessible to a wide range of abilities.
"I would say if you're prepared and you're somewhat athletic — and I don't mean you need to be able to be a marathon runner — you just need to make sure that you can hike seven kilometres at a time without completely exhausting yourself."
"With all those things in consideration, I would say they're very accessible experiences. I'm proud to be a British Columbian and say these are two experiences that should be on everyone's bucket list."
Dechaine said the two circuits open in January to allow international travellers to better plan their trips. The general reservation system for B.C. campgrounds opens on March 15, and allows campers to book up to three months in advance.
