Beluga calf sired by Vancouver whale dies in captivity in Texas
Two-year-old beluga named Stella is the second calf sired by Vancouver Aquarium beluga Imaq to die this year at SeaWorld in San Antonio.
Two-year-old's cause of death still unknown although calf was being treated for gastrointestinal issue
A baby beluga fathered by a whale from the Vancouver Aquarium has died at SeaWorld in San Antonio, Texas.
The cause of death of the two-year-old calf named Stella has yet to be determined, although SeaWorld says she was being treated at the time for signs of gastrointestinal issues.
Stella's father, Imaq, was captured from the wild from Hudson Bay near Churchill, Man. in 1990.

He has been at the Texas ocean theme park on a breeding loan from Vancouver since 2011.
Stella is the second of Imaq's calves to die this year in San Antonio.
Another of his offspring was born a month premature and died three weeks later, on July 12.
