B.C. windstorm cancels ferries and Harbour Air flights
Winds up to 110 km/h recorded in some South Coast communities
Windy conditions have caused BC Ferries and Harbour Air to cancel services on some of their routes, and have led to power outages in some communities on B.C.'s South Coast.
CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe said winds will be strong from the southeast until about 5 p.m. PT, when they will shift from the south for a couple of hours. Winds are then expected to change direction again and come from the west, dying down after 9 p.m. PT.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement.

Kids no longer stuck on Grouse Mountain
Grouse Mountain is reporting that its gondola is running again after having experienced delays throughout the afternoon.
École André Piolat earlier told parents about 60 of its Grade 6 students were stuck at the top of the mountain for several hours.
Libert Bondiau, one of the parents travelling with the students, said the group was in good spirits and were starting to come back down the mountain at 5:15 p.m. PT — although she says the students were disappointed they didn't get to stay overnight.
