BC Hydro scrambles to restore power to more than 40,000 customers
Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island worst hit areas
More than 40,000 homes in B.C. are without power as strong winds continue to blow through parts of the province.

Late Sunday night BC Hydro was reporting 54 outages in the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast, while there were 33 on Vancouver Island.
Environment Canada issued rainfall and wind warnings for those areas.
Meanwhile, BC Ferries cancelled all remaining sailings from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen to Duke Point

Strong winds caused some damage along B.C.'s coast Saturday while close to 9,000 BC Hydro customers were without power for parts of the day.
More storms are expected in the coming days.
