Virtually all of northeastern B.C. was without power for several hours because of a transmission issue Tuesday evening.
More than 34,000 customers were affected at its peak according to BC Hydro, including all of Dawson Creek, Fort St John, Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge.
BC Hydro said it was because of lightning striking their equipment, and they had crews on scene.
Power was restored to the vast majority of residents in the region by 7:30 p.m. PT.
Update: crews are now on site in the Peace Region after lightning interfered with our transmission system. https://t.co/1zw89wyAVw
