BC Coroners Service investigating death of man in snowmobile accident on Blackcomb Mountain

The BC Coroners Service is investigating the death of a snowmobiler on Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler.

"The death of a snowmobiler there has been reported to us and is under investigation," said Barb McLintock with the service in an e-mail to CBC News.

"Everything is very preliminary at this point ... Can confirm though that no avalanche involved," she added.

McClintock later confirmed the victim is male.

Whistler RCMP has yet to return calls about its investigation.
