B.C. teachers' strike: day camp spaces around Metro Vancouver
Many parents are scrambling, but there are still spaces at municipal day camps
The B.C. teachers' strike has many parents scrambling for day care for their children, but there are still spots at day camps at community centres across Metro Vancouver.
Despite nearly doubling the number of day camps and special programs, the Vancouver Park Board says they're rapidly filling up and developing waiting lists.

Last week, 12 community centres were offering day camps with indoor-outdoor play. This week 21 of the city's 24 community centres started offering special programming for children.
There are currently 22 community centres offering day camps in Vancouver. All the city's day camp programs are for kids six to 12-years-old.
The park board says day care camp staff have had criminal record checks and have received training.
The cost of the programs varies. The city says Inner city programs are less expensive while camps that offer field trips cost more.
Parents wishing to register online can go to vancouver.ca. Contact your local community center for more information. or call they city information line at 3-1-1.
