B.C rights commission shelves breastfeeding mom's complaint

The B.C. Human Rights Commission has dismissed a complaint brought by a breastfeeding mother against a Vancouver retailer.

The B.C. Human Rights Commission has dismissed a complaint brought by a breastfeeding mother against a Vancouver retailer.

Manuela Valle claimed she was discriminated against last August when she was told by a clerk at the H&M clothing store in downtown Vancouver to go into a fitting room to breastfeed her baby so she wouldn't offend other customers.

However, the commission said H&M had already addressed the issue by apologizing to Valle and telling staff that the store's policy is to let nursing moms breastfeed wherever they want.

The incident sparked a mass protest by other mothers who converged on the store to breastfeed their babies.
