B.C. premier seeking new Ontario wine regulations

Premier Christy Clark says she sending incoming Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne a bottle of wine in that hope that it will persuade her to relax her province's regulations banning interprovincial wine imports.

Last year, both B.C. and the federal government relaxed their laws and regulations restricting the movement of wines by consumers across provincial borders.

But Clark says Ontario continues to limit the amount of B.C. wine its residents can import.

"Ontario hasn't opened up their borders to wine imports from British Columbia. We've opened up our borders to wine imports from Ontario and we have, I believe, the best wineries in the world," said Clark.

"I think Ontarians want to drink our wine, so I'm going to be legally sending Ms. Wynne a bottle of some of British Columbia's finest vintages, so I can help persuade her that they need to open up their borders to free trade with British Columbia."
