B.C. highways 1 and 97 both reopen after lengthy closures
Trans-Canada highway had been closed since Thursday evening due to washouts near Revelstoke
Highways 1 and 97 both reopened for traffic on Saturday night after washouts forced extended closures in both directions.
Highway 1 reopened just after 6:30 p.m. PT. A washout dumped two metres of mud on the road at Camp Creek on Thursday night, forcing the closure.
RCMP had originally expected the highway to be shut throughout the weekend.
Highway 97 reopened to single lane alternating traffic just before 2:15 p.m. PT after a washout forced its closure near Lemoray B.C.
