B.C. fires: Lizard Lake fire growing on Vancouver Island
The Lizard Lake fire burning east of Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island has grown to cover 150 hectares since it was discovered Wednesday.
The Pacific Circle Highway is closed and check points are in place south of Cowichan Lake
The Lizard Lake fire burning east of Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island has grown to cover 150 hectares since it was discovered Wednesday.
Five helicopters and 39 firefighters have been fighting the blaze but it remains zero per cent contained.
While It's not burning toward any homes or buildings, it is growing quickly in the extremely dry conditions.
The B.C. Wildfire service said it is suspected it was caused by humans and warned there was heavy smoke in the area.
The Pacific Circle Highway is closed and check points are in place two kilometres south of Cowichan Lake and near Lizard Lake.
Highway 14 to Port Renfrew is not affected by the fire.
