All 12,000 birds on a second Fraser Valley property to be hit with avian flu have been destroyed.
All 12,000 birds on a second Fraser Valley property to be hit with avian flu have been destroyed.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency had reported on Wednesday the new outbreak was located fairly close to the farm where H5N2 virus was detected last month in two barns.
It's believed the latest outbreak is a low-pathogenicity virus, like the first one.
But the agency said Saturday the specific type of virus — or N number — of the second outbreak has not yet been determined.
There are now 45 properties in the area under quarantine.
