Shooting at Abbotsford gas station was targeted, police say
Car was found in flames near scene of shooting
Police say one man was hospitalized after a targeted shooting and car fire in the Clearbrook area of Abbotsford, B.C., early Tuesday evening.
Shots were fired outside an Esso gas station in the 31700 block of South Fraser Way just before 7:30 p.m. Two cars believed to have been involved fled the scene, according to a statement.
Shortly after, responding officers were told someone who'd been shot had arrived at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in a vehicle with a shattered windshield.
The statement said officers went to the hospital and found the victim, who is in his 20s, being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A damaged SUV had been left outside the emergency room doors.
Another vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting was later found in flames near the gas station.
Both the burnt car and the damaged SUV have been seized as part of the police investigation.
The statement said officers believe the man was targeted, but did not say whether the shooting was gang-related.
The entire gas station property, which includes an On The Run convenience store and Tim Hortons, was cordoned off by yellow police tape as police investigated. A teal Honda with noticeable damage had been abandoned on scene.
