2 arrested after high-speed car chase ends in Abbotsford
Abbotsford Police deployed a spike trap, which stopped the suspect vehicle near the Mt. Lehman exit
Coquitlam RCMP have arrested two people after a high-speed car chase that started in Coquitlam and ended in Abbotsford.
Police say the chase started around the area of the 2900 block of Silver Springs Boulevard in Coquitlam.
They said the suspect vehicle was associated with reports of "suspicious activity" in that area before it fled around midnight Wednesday, damaging the responding Coquitlam RCMP police car.
The vehicle was tracked by an RCMP helicopter through Surrey, where it collided with another police car before continuing on Highway 1 into Abbotsford.
The Abbotsford Police Department deployed a spike belt near the Mt. Lehman Road exit, which stopped the vehicle around 12:26 a.m. Thursday.
Abbotsford police chased the two suspects a short distance on foot, and finally apprehended them near the Mt. Lehman exit on Highway 1.
No police officers were injured in the chase, and Coquitlam RCMP say they will not be releasing any more information at this time, pending the approval of criminal charges to the two suspects.
