A man and a woman were killed Tuesday evening in two separate shootings in Metro Vancouver, police said.

In the second incident, a woman in her 20s was found dead, slumped over the steering wheel of a car, near the corner of Oxford Street and Mason Avenue in Port Coquitlam, a suburb. Police were called to the scene sometime after 7 p.m.

Earlier Tuesday, a man died after he was shot outside a busy shopping mall in Surrey, the RCMP said. The unidentified man died in hospital after he was found inside a vehicle at the parking lot of Guildford Town Centre, RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr said.

Police received reports of multiple shots being fired shortly after 5 p.m. Officers who arrived at the mall located the injured man amid shattered glass from the driver's side window of the automobile, Carr said.

"We are getting reports that there were multiple shots, and they were all targeted at that one vehicle," Carr said.

"We had a vehicle [that] may be associated to this seen leaving, I believe it was, outside the mall," he said.

Paramedics tried to revive the man on scene before taking him to hospital, where he later died of his injuries. It is not known where or how many times he was shot.

A witness said the man was shot while he was sitting in the vehicle.

Police do not have any suspects so far in the mall shooting. Carr said investigators were interviewing a number of witnesses Tuesday night.

The mall incident was the second fatal shooting in Surrey in the past 24 hours.

On Monday night, a man's body was found in an apartment at 13300 105A Ave., near 134th St. That shooting has all the signs of a deliberate hit, the RCMP said Tuesday morning.

Carr also said it was too early to speculate on any links between the two shootings on Tuesday.

"It's too early to say that it's an escalation of any sort. We have no evidence or fact to support that the two were linked," he said.
