The B.C. coroner is investigating the deaths of two people in a Victoria park where a homeless camp has been set up in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The deaths in Topaz Park were reported Wednesday afternoon and are not suspicious, according to the B.C. Coroners Service. The service said both people were men, one aged in his 60s and the other in his mid-20s.

No information about the cause of death or the identities of the deceased has been released.

The Topaz Park camp was sanctioned by the city last month to allow homeless people to physically distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The coroner is also investigating the death of a man in his 30s last Friday at an unsanctioned homeless camp on Pandora Avenue.
